I’m Stacy Leonard, principal of South Elementary.  South offers Kindergarten through second  grade programs at our facility on South 8 th street , a pre-k program housed on the VZ Rogers campus, and a Parents As Teachers (P.A.T.) program working with younger children in their homes.

Although I began my career teaching second grade in the Lubbock public school system, nineteen of my twenty years experience was gained here in Lamesa.  In addition to ten years teaching preschool through second grade in the public schools, I owned and managed Journeys preschool where I taught for an additional ten years.  I hold a Bachelors Degree in Child Development and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University .  When I am not working, I enjoy relaxing with my husband Scott, and our three children, Meghan, Taylor and Caitlin.

Our young students are constantly learning in everything they do.  Our community of educators works together to find fun, creative ways to develop deep comprehension of the skills and concepts taught through authentic, meaningful experiences.  We believe in the importance of partnering with families and the community to provide children a safe and loving environment so that each child can reach his full potential as an independent, respectable citizen who is able to solve problems in creative ways to contribute positively to our society.
