Junior Calendar
September ‘07
- Study-now is the time to prepare for scholarships and improve GPA.
- Check course credits and review transcripts
- REGISTER for PSAT-Fee is $13.00. PSAT is practice for the SAT. It determines National Merit Scholarship. It is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended and it is a good gauge for college readiness.
- Come to College Night September 27, 2007.
October ‘07
- Take PSAT- October 17, 2007 at LHS.
November ‘07
- Thanksgiving Holiday-Opportunity to volunteer!
- Seek advice and guidance from Parents, teachers, guidance counselor on college search.
December ‘07
- Check ACT/SAT spring registration dates.
- Deadline for January 26, SAT: December 26.
- STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! Do well on your final exams!
- Dual Credit: A grade of “B” or higher is required to earn an Advanced Measure for the Distinguished Achievement Diploma.
- Check course credits and review transcripts
- Christmas Holidays-volunteer.
January ‘08
- Semester II: Check your schedule carefully. Make sure you are in the correct classes.
- Look at SAT and ACT testing Dates. Juniors are encouraged to take at least one administration of these tests in the spring or summer prior to their senior year.
- Review PSAT results
- Deadline for February 9, ACT: January 4.
- SAT January 26
- Deadline for March 1, SAT: January 29.
- Choose top 10 colleges or vocational-tech schools.
February ‘08
- Write letters of request for information, applications, catalogs, etc. to the 10 colleges or vocational schools you are interested in.
- ACT February 9 at LHS
- Read the Newspaper—Make a note of all the local scholarships that are available. Be prepared to apply during your Senior Year.
March ‘08
- SAT March 1
- EXIT ELA TAKS: March 4.
- ELA TAKS- write, read, write…to be exempt from the reading and writing portions of college placements tests…you must score a 2200 and write a 3 on your composition.
- ALL TAKS TESTING-Give your BEST effort! Once passed—you are finished with TAKS forever!!!
- Deadline for April 12, ACT: March 7.
- Registration for Senior Year!!
- Schedule college visits (the summer months before your senior year is a great time to visit college campuses)
- Spring Break- Get “rested-up” for April TAKS!
April ‘08
- ACT April 12
- EXIT Math TAKS: April 30.
- A score of 2200 or higher on TAKS Math will exempt you from Math college placements tests.
- ALL TAKS TESTING-Give your BEST effort! Once passed—you are finished with TAKS forever!!!
- Deadline for May 3, SAT: April 1.
May ‘08
- EXIT Science TAKS: May 1.
- EXIT Social Studies TAKS: May 2.
- ALL TAKS TESTING-Give your BEST effort! Once passed—you are finished with TAKS forever!!!

- Visit college campuses.
- Collect applications, scholarship info, etc.
- July 15: ELA EXIT retest
- July 16: Math EXIT retest
- July 17: Science EXIT retest
- July 18: Social Studies EXIT retest
- August-Schedules will be mailed home. Check it carefully to make sure you are set for Graduation!
- Most college applications are due between September and January.
